With good reason, businesses and the government frequently use Dell’s Latitude laptops. The line routinely receives high marks in our tests year after year, largely because of its sturdy construction, excellent input devices, and extensive networking and security choices. The new Latitude 7490 keeps the same exterior as its older brother, the 7480, but has improved internals. Dell’s business line now features 8th generation U-class CPUs from Intel thanks to the Latitude 7490. By doubling the core count, the Kaby Lake R CPUs usher in a significant redesign of Intel’s 15 W chips. The new quad-core design significantly improves performance, although at the cost of modest power consumption reduction.
